Why use Earth Maiden handcrafted soap?

Our handcrafted soap is truly betterfor your skin. The commercial "soap" found in grocery store aisles is frequently not soap at all but a detergent bar made from synthetic materials, cleansers, stabilizers and  animal by-products. These bars contain processed chemicals and quite often, petroleum-based ingredients, that are harsh on your skin and strip it of it's natural protective oils and moisture. 

One of the most dramatic differences between handmade soap and commercially prepared soap is glycerin. Handmade soaps retain glycerin, which occurs naturally in the soap making process. Glycerin is a humectant that helps attract moisture to the skin. Without the natural moisture, you have a soap that dries out the skin. In an attempt to harden their soap bars and keep their milling equipment from becoming clogged, commercial soap makers   have the natural glycerin removed, resulting in a hard, detergent bar rather than natural soap.
